This is the first semester of chemistry forscience, biomedical and chemical engineering, andpre-med programs. Topics include measurements, elements, atomic structure, molecular structure, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, acid-base reactions, equilibrium, and introductory kinetics. An understanding of how chemistry applies to living systems and the natural world, green chemistry and sustainable chemistry applications
are emphasized. 3 hours lecture. 1 hour recitation.
