Extended Learning Student Organizations

Alpha Sigma Lambda

This national honor society recognizes adult students for outstanding academic achievement. Membership is open to all matriculated students in Extended Learning who have completed a minimum of 24 credits at the Center for Extended Learning (including 15 outside their major field), and who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 at the end of the fall semester and are in the top 10 percent of their class. The Extended Learning chapter is Alpha Theta. Eligible students are invited to join during the spring semester of each academic year. For more information, contact the Extended Learning Office at 610-499-4282.

Procedures for Becoming a Recognized Extended Learning Student Group

In the course of their studies, Extended Learning students may identify a need for an activity or service that they believe will enrich and improve adult student life. (These needs may vary with time and changes in the student population.) The division wishes to encourage student efforts to form groups that will meet the current needs of all or a portion of Extended Learning students. In addition, a limited amount of funding may be available for approved activities and services offered to students by registered student groups.

A student group/organization that seeks recognition should submit a profile to Extended Learning, Room 120, Kapelski Learning Center, Main Campus. Recognition of the group depends on the merits of the following:

  • A formal, written statement of purpose.
  • An outline/description of the actual or potential membership.
  • The name of the faculty advisor.
