PT 736 - Musculoskeletal III 4 Credit(s)
This course includes a regional approach to the musculoskeletal examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and prognosis of the spine. Students utilize examination findings to establish a differential diagnosis that informs intervention. Throughout the course an emphasis is placed upon the process of clinical decision making for the client with an orthopedic dysfunction, disease, or injury and students review selected musculoskeletal diagnoses. The intervention component includes the theory and practical application of therapeutic exercise and manual interventions. The principles of range of motion, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, mobilization, stretching, and progressive resistance activities are included, in addition to a review of adjunctive interventions. Rationale and methods for intervention planning are emphasized as they relate to the solution of client problems.
