MATH 213 - Mathematical Ideas III 3 Credit(s)
This course is designed for students pursuing middle-level teaching certification. Emphasis is placed on learning concepts and developing an understanding of mathematics as a body of connected ideas. The NCTM Principles and Standards for School Mathematics provides a framework for the selection of topics for this course. Topics are presented in a historical context and include rational numbers, probability and counting, number theory, and algebra and functions. Prerequisite(s): MATH 111 and MATH 112 or permission of the instructor.
