MHR 325 - Managing Diversity in the Workplace

This course examines the human resource (HR) of a rapidly changing workforce and population shifts in the United States and around the world in the 21st century. It looks at the differences and similarities that each person brings to the workplace. Students become aware of individual and cultural differences and examine a new organizational paradigm in which diversity can thrive. They focus on the issues, challenges, and
subtle dynamics that operate in cross-cultural organizations and learn how to build work relationships that are functional, effective, and satisfying. The course considers the realities of increasing global competition, the renewed emphasis on human resources to achieve organizational goals, and the increasing diversity of customers. It evaluates the benefits and costs of having a diverse workforce.
