This course acquaints students with the painting, sculpture, architecture, and decorative arts of the United States produced during the years beginning with the Civil War to the present. Works of art are discussed as products of the political, social, and cultural conditions found in the United States, and ideas about the revision of research in studies about American art are introduced.
