AS 105 - Sketchbook

The course will focus on the creation of observational sketchbook drawings of various locations in the region. Students will be encouraged to develop a unique vision in their sketchbooks by applying concepts learned through course instruction while experimenting with materials. On-site drawing will be supplemented by studio classroom meetings which will consist of lectures, critiques and assessments of student works, and drawings from still-life set ups. The course will provide students with an understanding of basic elements and vocabulary of drawing as well as the opportunity to get to know a range of unique and important sites in the nearby area. Course may be repeated three times.
