ENGR 335 - Sustainability, Innovation and Entrpreneurship

3 Credit(s)

Three trends are shaping the current business landscape: the role of entrepreneurs as the driving force in the global economy, the use of innovation to gain competitive advantage in the marketplace, and the move toward environmentally sustainable products, services, practices, and business models. These three trends represent the sweet spot for future job growth and career development in a variety of fields and industries. ENGR 335 positions students to capitalize on these trends by helping them gain knowledge and develop competencies in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability. Its interdisciplinary nature enables students to pursue careers in a diverse and changing world. Students engage in class discussion, problem solving, and experiential learning to assimilate the methods and skills of successful entrepreneurs with a focus on sustainability-related innovation in product, process, and strategy development. Students investigate complex issues, deliver oral presentations, meet and interact with business and technology leaders, and develop a personal journal, notebook, or blog. Open only to engineering majors.  Students may not receive credit for both ENGR 335 and MGT 335.
Prerequisite(s): Junior Standing
