This course addresses the PWC of Individual and Cultural Diversity. The course endeavors to help clinicians view diversity as a constructive force in assessment and intervention. We will examine the social and cultural factors that influence the interactions between clinicians and their clients. Models for conceptualizing the various dimensions of identity are presented. Course participants are encouraged through course activities to develop insight into the effect of their worldview on their clinical work. Theory, research, and media related to diverse groups are also examined. The instructor and course participants collaborate to create an interactive and self-reflective atmosphere.
