Creative Writing Major

The Creative Writing major provides students with a foundation in the four major genres—fiction, nonfiction, poetry and drama. Required advanced courses in the first three of these genres give students ample opportunity to hone skills acquired at the introductory level. Additional requirements include a number of special topics courses driven by both faculty and student interests. Students may also take a Creative Writing Praxis to gain hands-on experience related to the field. The major culminates with the Senior Seminar, which requires students to assemble a portfolio of creative work and give a formal presentation to faculty and fellow students.
