2025-2026 Undergraduate Catalog (Edited Version)
Green Chemistry, BS

|
Return to: Areas of Study A-Z
This new major takes advantage of the chemistry department’s long time commitment to sustainability and green chemistry. The program will expand upon the green chemistry content of our current courses by exposing students to the broad and interdisciplinary nature of sustainability. The students in this program would have the same requirements as the BS in Chemistry degree but will be required to take two Environmental Science and Sustainability Courses, an Environmental Chemistry course, a sustainability related Values Seminar course, and complete a Chemistry Research Experience in Green Chemistry.
Additionally, the students will select their HUM/SSCI electives in close consultation with their academic advisor to ensure that sustainability-related courses are chosen when possible. This new degree is designed for students with an interest in sustainability who wish to pursue careers in industry before or after graduate work in chemistry.
