Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Academic Schools/Departments/Programs

The sociology “Health and Society” specialization prepares students for job opportunities in a wide range of organizations in both the public and private sectors, as well as graduate school in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or other health-related fields. Students develop an understanding of core sociological concepts and theories (as they relate to health and society in general) and learn how to use a variety of research methods to study the social world. This track culminates in a 200-hour internship with an organization in the health care field. Through classroom study and experiential learning, this track provides excellent preparation for a career in the health care field.

This specialization is required for sociology majors in the pre-physical therapy and pre-occupational therapy pathways, but is open to all sociology majors. For more information, please visit the Pre-Occupational Therapy Pathway  , Pre-Physical Therapy Pathway  , and Pre-Physical Therapy 3+3 Program catalog listings.
