Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS), Certificate

The certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies is an interdisciplinary credential designed to provide coherence among courses for students who are interested in learning about the region. A minimum of 9 credits are required from the following courses offered by the College of Arts & Sciences in the three divisions of Science, Humanities, and Social Science. The three courses must be taken in at least two of the divisions, and all three must be taken in different departments. At least one class must be taken outside the student’s major. Should a student include a course from another school in the certificate, if and when such courses are approved by the Advisory Board, the remaining two must be taken within the College of Arts and Sciences.

(1)  All courses in the certificate meet General Education requirements for all undergraduate students.

(2) Courses with the prefix SPAN are taught entirely in Spanish.

(3) Courses with the prefix FREN are taught entirely in French.
