Welcome to the Widener University Student Handbook

Dear Students,   

Welcome to Widener University and to the Pride! 

Whether you are beginning your first semester or returning for another year, we are excited that you are part of our community. College is a time to learn, lead, build relationships, and discover your purpose. It is also a time when each of us helps create a campus where everyone can learn, thrive, and belong.  

This Student Handbook is more than a collection of policies—it is a guide to your rights, responsibilities, campus resources, and the expectations that support a safe, respectful, and engaging community. I encourage you to refer to it throughout your time at Widener whenever you have questions or need guidance.  

Our community is grounded in the values of Respect, Integrity, and Excellence. Respect means valuing the dignity and perspectives of others. Integrity means making ethical decisions and taking responsibility for your actions. Excellence means continually striving to grow and become your best—in the classroom, in leadership, and in service to others.  

As you review this handbook, I encourage you to become familiar with our shared commitment to personal responsibility, mutual respect, and community wellbeing. Every choice we make contributes to the culture of care and learning that we create together.  

Your experience at Widener will be shaped not only by what you learn, but by how you engage—with classmates, faculty, staff, and opportunities across campus. We are committed to supporting your success every step of the way, and we hope you will embrace every opportunity to learn, serve, lead, and grow.

Students are responsible for abiding by all university rules and regulations. Students should contact the Office of the Vice President of Student Engagement and Transformation and Dean of Students if they have questions or need advice regarding university policies. Rules and policies are reviewed annually and may be changed at any time.
