PSY 216 - Community Psychology 3 Credit(s)
This course focuses on the application of psychological principles to understanding and addressing community issues. Students take an ecological or systemic perspective on human behavior, paying particular attention to the influence of cultural and contextual influences on the human experience. This course also focuses on the prevention of problems, promotion of health, and the empowerment of individuals and communities. Topics for exploration include poverty, family, food security, community violence, education, health, stress, and coping. This course has an optional service learning component. Prerequisite(s): PSY 105 .
