NURS 605 - Clinical Decision Making and Diagnostic Reasoning Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner I 6 Credit(s)
This course provides the adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner student the opportunity to incorporate strategies of health promotion, health maintenance, disease prevention, cultural competence, ethics, and advanced technology into care of acutely ill and unstable medical patients across the adult lifespan including adolescents, adults, older adults, and the frail elderly. The first of three clinical courses, concepts of acute management of medical conditions are introduced. Weekly seminars focus on diagnostic reasoning, current evidence, management, and coordination of care for medical patients experiencing acute and unstable medical conditions. The practicum provides 224 supervised clinical practice hours and 16 simulation hours for the AGACNP student to initiate all aspects of the NP role.
