SEM 415 - The Athlete and Fan: the Creation of Business Products and Services

3 Credit(s)

The industries that have grown up around the business of sports have as their primary focus one or more of the following two constituencies: the athlete (whether child, amateur, or elite) and the fan or spectator. It is for these two participants in the sport process that the business of sport has created their products and services. Why people participate in sport and why they watch is crucial to the sport industry. Without such an awareness and understanding they would not be able to identify and create the products and services that fans both need and want. Such knowledge can only help to enhance the ability to meet and grow the needs of the sport industry. The perceptions, cognitions, motives and behavior of athletes and fans and the business opportunities that they present are the focus of this course.
Prerequisite(s): MGT 210   and junior standing
