Feminist literature, as well as the education and leadership literature focusing on women, has been growing over the last 20 years. Using an historical perspective, the course utilizes this literature to examine the role of women in education, both as learners and as leaders. The focus is on policy and leadership issues as well as how education in our society has served the needs of women. It also examines women’s concepts of self in educational settings while incorporating women’s voices, past and present. An examination of current issues concerning gender in education is explored.
