SW 642 - Social Work Practice With Children and Adolescents 3 Credit(s)
This course applies clinical social work practice to the treatment of children and adolescents. A review of developmental theory provides the foundation for assessment and intervention with this population. Psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, systems, and other theoretical models of practice are analyzed as they apply to work with children and adolescents. A variety of treatment modalities including individual, play, family, and group is presented. Students also learn to integrate theoretical orientations and social work interventions with a variety of special needs children. Prerequisite(s): SW 506 ,
