To meet the academic, career, and personal/social needs of all students, teachers equipped to address non-curricular issues as a ‘first responder’ may improve classroom climate/culture and achievement for all students. The Counselor Coach Certification is designed to prepare teachers with the knowledge and skills to engage students in a supportive, nurturing way when they exhibit challenging behaviors and emotional distress. Additionally, it is a pathway for those who may be considering the school counseling profession. The 15-credit Counselor Coach Certification has a sequence of five (5) graduate courses with a field experience component. The candidate may complete the sequence within one academic year. Upon completion of the Counselor Coach Certificate, students may transfer those credits toward the Master’s and/or Certification Program in Counselor Education.
