Dynamics of Urban Organizations, Certificate

Students will benefit from increasing their knowledge in Urban Organizational Dynamics. It is expected that students will: 

  1. Students would learn about the dynamic relationships within and among different types of urban organizations such as: neighborhood and community-based organizations, 501C3 non-profits, schools and universities; foundations, for-profit businesses, franchises, and corporations, and government agencies.   
  2. Working from a stakeholder perspective, students would learn about how these different kinds of organizations are funded, structured and how they function and work individually and collectively to create and sustain urban communities.   
  3. Students will explore real case studies containing organization’s strategic plans and logic models as a means to analyze their intended outcomes and impact against current data on the issues they seek to address.

Program Requirements: 

  • Must comply with all general requirements of Widener University relating to the governance of graduate programs.   

  • Must complete at least 9 credits of graduate work in the certificate program. 

  • Must complete all of the degree requirements within a total of five calendar years.  

  • Must maintain a minimum semester and cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all program coursework. Must earn a “B” or better in all courses.
