The minor in Education is suitable for students who are exploring various possibilities within the field of education. It is designed to attract a broader range of students beyond those specifically interested in elementary and special education. By offering a minor, we can engage students who may be considering careers in educational policy, research, counseling, or other related fields. This broader reach will enrich our academic community and foster a more diverse cohort of future educators and education professionals.
Students who complete the minor in Education will also have the option to continue their studies in post-graduate certification programs if they choose to pursue a career in teaching. This pathway is particularly advantageous as it allows students to gain foundational knowledge and experience in education before committing to a certification program. Additionally, students with the minor may have the opportunity to work in the classroom, where districts typically offer tuition reimbursement for employees completing their certification. This financial support can make the transition to a teaching career more accessible and appealing.
