CSCI 329 - Bioinformatics 3 Credit(s)
This course introduces the basic computational concepts and methods used in molecular biology and molecular genetics, and introduces students to the analysis of genetic sequences. The course discusses available computational tools for extracting biological information from DNA and protein sequences. It also provides a brief introduction to bioinformatics algorithms. The course teaches Biopython (Python for computational molecular biology) programming language in the UNIX environment. 3 hours lecture. Prerequisite(s): CSCI 257 and CSCI 258 or CSCI 247 and 248.
