SOC 235 - Race Relations in American Society

The course investigates the role of race, ethnicity, and gender as the foundation of group relations and minority status in American society. The socio-historical process of creating subordinate groups and the nature of prejudice and discrimination are examined. The social, economic, and political consequences of the process for both minorities and the majority population are explored and related to issues of current interest.
Prerequisite(s): SOC 105 .
